Studio Pilot Program
Participation
Intent Yoga Center has joined forces
with The Green Yoga Association to continue in
the development of a handbook aimed at helping yoga studios
clean up their practices. Our purpose is to implement
more sustainable practices within our own studio space
and pass that information on to students in order to implement
greater change.
The
Green Yoga Association is an organization committed
to fostering greater awareness of sustainable practices
on Earth via the yoga community.
As
the first Washington state business to become a founding
member of GYA we are intent on bringing
our studio
into full compliance with the GYA mission of "fostering
ecological reverence and action in the yoga community."

abilities and backgrounds.

are committed to practicing lightly on the earth.
Intent
Yoga Center is the first yoga studio in Washington to participate
in the Green Yoga Studio Pilot Program through the Green
Yoga Association.

Intent
USA, Inc. is a corporation dedicated to promoting and supporting
the yoga lifestyle. Originally started as a manufacturing
company producing yoga bags and accessories, we have evolved
into an online retailer for environmentally and socially responsible
products.
It is our intent to encourage the practice of yoga, meditation
and spirituality. We believe these practices lead to increased
awareness of our bodies and the environment, and to more socially
and environmentally responsible choices. We intend to support
environmental awareness by using organic, natural fiber, chemical
free and/or recycled materials in our studio and eco gift
shop.
Some
steps we are making (or already have in place) include:
-Our cork floor (cork is a renewable resource)
-Re-use of old school desk as shelving for props
-Use of second hand items as much as possible (stereo in lounge,
baskets, counter frame, mugs, coffee maker, sofa, chairs,
tables....)
-Toxic free cleaning supplies
-Printing fliers and schedules on recycled paper products
-We plan on installing water filters in both the earth studio
and the lunar lounge (we will not sell bottled water and encourage
you to use re-usable containers and filling your bottles.)
-PVC-free community yoga mats (earth elements from huggermugger)
-Cork yoga blocks
-Recycled paper towels in the bathrooms
-Our walls are painted with low VOC paint
-Declaring freedom from junk mail
(as catalogs come it, we call them and ask to be taken off
their lists…really…you can too!)
