| Jean
Hoiland
In 1994 Jean experienced a severe neck injury from an auto
accident and suffered daily pain and discomfort for five years.
Then yoga found her and in January of 2000 she began practicing
4 days a week, under the guidance of an experienced yoga therapist.
Within just a few sessions her neck felt restored. For six
months Jean only practiced yoga, foregoing her usual routine
of weights, walking, volleyball and stretching. The time away
from these other activities allowed her body to heal and return
to proper balance. She has dedicated herself to the practice
of yoga ever since.
Since those first sessions on the mat Jean has studied with
Geo (Moskios) Takoma, Steve Rogers, Siva Rea, Ana Forrest,
Gurmukh Kaur Khalsa, Sara Powers, Paul Grilley, Tias Little,
Richard Satchel, Aadil Palhkivala, Seane Corn and Baron Baptiste,
at workshops and conferences around the United States. She
loves all styles of yoga, and is particularly drawn to strenuous
power vinyasa, but has learned to incorporate more restful
and restorative practices. Meditation has become a big part
of her practice in order to maintain focus, creativity and
balance.
Her intent in teaching yoga is to help others find balance,
strength and flexibility in body, mind and spirit. She encourages
everyone to incorporate simple yoga practices into their daily
life, stay present and in the moment and surrender the need
to control.

cultivation of flexibility, core strength, breath awareness
and balance through asana and pranayama. Classes include a
variety of postures within creative sequencing and attention
to technique. All will enjoy an informative, challenging and
