Light
on Life by BKS Iyengar. This is a really great
book, my favorite of his series Light
on Yoga and The
Light On Pranayama. Mr. Iyengar's books are easy
to read and follow. If you have any injuries or illnesses
his books will likely address them. Another great resource
is Yoga:
The Path to Holistic Health . This book has a
ton of great photos showing the poses at different angles
and offers various sequences for many different physical conditions
and limitations.
Yoga
a Gem for Women by Geeta Iyengar. This is a wonderful
book with specific reference to the main biological stages
of a womans life & identifies which asanas (poses) should
be practiced or avoided at those stages. The book is designed
specifically for women who wish to develop their own self-study
of yoga (Yoga Sadhana), and it covers not only asanas (postures)
but also the other vital components of traditional yoga such
as pranayama (breath) and meditation.
Yoga
for Equestrians If you are one of the many horse
people here in Enumclaw and you participate in jumping, dressage
or any other horse shows or competitions this is the book
you need. Yoga in general will definitely help you to gain
a better "seat" and improve your posture. You can't
go far in riding if you're tense or inflexible, and this book
has lots of ways to counter both those problems. I highly
recommend it.
