benefits
The
important thing is the attitude -
a big heart and a small ego.
•
When
performing the asanas, try to concentrate on each movement
- the process of moving into a pose is just as important as
the final posture.
•
Remember
that you should not strain or continue holding any yoga posture
if it causes pain.
•
Yoga
is not a competitive sport, and the extent of the stretch
is less important than the technique.

- SIGN
IN
• There is a sign in sheet
on the blue counter by the studio door.
• You must sign on this sheet even if you registered
online.
• PRINT CLEARLY - someone other than the instructor
may need to read it.
• If you are new to the studio you must fill out a
NEW STUDENT form and waiver prior to taking classes.
- QUIET
PLEASE
• If you arrive late, do not
enter during meditation, wait until we move into warm up.
• Cell Phones should be silenced.
• Catch up with your friends and co-workers in the
hall, not the studio space.
• We have created a friendly atmosphere and some talking
may occur in class, in fact as a group we may laugh together
and share our yoga experiences, but our goal is definitely
to keep our focus on our practice and not get caught up
in dialog during class.
•
If you are grunting and groaning you are trying too hard.
Breathing should be audible during active practice and quiet
and calm during relaxation or restorative sessions.
- GOOD
HOUSE KEEPING
•
Leave shoes in the hall. Purses should be hung on a hook
in the studio with other valuables.
• Wash clothes and cleaner are available near sink.
Please use them on the mats.
• Fold blankets neatly and in the same manner you
found them.
• Put props back where you got them.
• Wipe up any water spills or sweat with the dirty
towels in the basket.
• Please help us keep the studio clean for the next
class coming in.
- OTHER
POINTS TO PONDER
•
Good hygiene is appreciated by all members and instructors.
• Many people are sensitive to odors, save perfume
and strong oils for work and date night.
• If you must leave early, leave your mat and props
where they are so as not to disturb the rest of class.
• Leave space near the back for the occassional late
member.
• Remind the instructor about your injuries or illnesses.
We have many people to remember and your safety is our priority.
• If you have a question about a particular pose or
breathing exercise...ask during class so that everyone can
benefit from the additional information.
You
will need comfortable clothes, an open mind, accepting nature
and a sticky mat. Mats can be purchased at the studio. We
carry the Eco
Yoga Mat which is all natural, biodegradable
and PVC-free, along with the Harmony Mat by Jade Yoga and
Earth Elements from Hugger Mugger. Inexpensive mats are available
online and at Target. We will supply a limited number of Earth
Element Mats for studio use. |
